GACCHI-RI がっちり
Meanings
1. Describes bodies, structures, frameworks, relationships, or other things being strongly and tightly joined with little looseness or gap.
2. Describes someone as shrewd, hard-nosed, or tight with money.
3. Describes gripping or holding something firmly.
Examples
1. You can tell how skilled the craftsman is just by looking at this solidly built chair.
職人の腕がいいのは、このがっちり作られた椅子一つ見ても明らかだ。
2. Whatever people say, I have to earn serious money so I can send some home to my parents.
私はなんと言われても、がっちり稼いで、故郷の両親に仕送りをしなければいけない。
3. Within ten seconds of appearing on stage, he had the children’s hearts firmly in his grasp.

Dogmatic Opinion
Compared with GASSHI-RI, GACCHI-RI focuses less on the property of sturdiness itself and more on the strength of the connection, fit, or grip.
That is also why in sense 3 the strength of the grasp matters: something is held so firmly that it will not easily come loose.
Sense 2 is less common in my own everyday use, but the money-related television program Gacchiri Monday uses this financial/business flavor of the word.
Across the different senses, GACCHI-RI gives an impression of strength that does not readily come apart, loosen, or let go.

Firmly, tightly, solidly, and strongly joined work for physical uses. For a person’s financial attitude, shrewd, hard-nosed, or tight with money may fit. “がっちり掴む” is get a firm grip on; metaphorically, firmly capture someone’s attention or win someone’s heart. GASSHI-RI emphasizes solidity of build more strongly, while GACCHI-RI often emphasizes the strength of joining or gripping.
