Dogmatic Opinion
GICCHI-RI is almost synonymous with GISSHI-RI, but I feel that the packing is even more extreme. The container or space seems almost ready to burst.
There can be a sense of pressure pushing outward from inside—as though the wood of a bookshelf might start creaking.
Imagine a bookshelf designed to hold 100 books. GISSHI-RI would be 100 books neatly filling it. GICCHI-RI would be more like forcing 105 books into it until both the books and the shelf seem ready to scream.
So beyond density and lack of gaps, GICCHI-RI can suggest tightness, strain, and an absence of breathing room.
