Dogmatic Opinion
UCCHA-RI gives me an image of something being rather roughly shifted or thrown in the opposite horizontal direction.
Because UCCHA-RI is originally the name of a sumo technique, the figurative sense of a dramatic last-second reversal may not immediately make sense to someone who knows nothing about sumo. The metaphor works because the wrestler who appears to be cornered at the very edge suddenly reverses the situation and sends the opponent out instead.
