Dogmatic Opinion
Translating every use as “sticky” misses the point. BECCHA-RI often describes an unpleasant texture caused by too much moisture.
Compared with BECCHO-RI, I feel that BECCHA-RI puts more emphasis on excessive moisture and the resulting flattened or mushy texture. If the main point is that something is clinging or adhering to a surface, BECCHO-RI feels more suitable.
BECCHA-RI is particularly common as a negative description of food texture: rice, fried rice, French toast, or something else that should have had a better-defined texture but has become too wet.
