Dogmatic Opinion
The name “Teppo(means Gun)” for puffer fish comes from the joke that if you hit it, you will die.
“Chiri” is said to be a one-pot dish of white fish. Like cod.
Puffer fish cuisine itself is not very familiar to those from the Tokyo region.
I have never seen pufferfish sold in supermarkets and, of course,
it does not appear on tables or in school lunches.
I’ve been treated to it a few times at high-end restaurants, and while I think it is delicious, light and elegant
However, I personally doubt if it is good enough for me to want to eat it on my own while I am worried about death.
If I can’t eat it for the rest of my life, and I’m OK with that (my personal opinion).
