MUSSU-RI むっすり
Meanings
Almost the same as “Muttsuri”.
A moody, taciturn, and unsympathetic person.
Examples
When I came home late at night after breaking curfew, my father was waiting for me in the living room with a sullen look on his face.
門限を破って深夜に帰宅したら、父がリビングでむっすりとした顔で待っていた。
Dogmatic Opinion
There is no mention of “Mussuri” in any of the dictionaries I have looked at.
However, the word “Musutto” is an expression of anger coupled with “Muttsuri”.
Compared to “Muttsuri”, the image is that of an angry, snorting nose, with the mouth closed.
Therefore, the atmosphere is more aggressive toward the cause of the anger than “Muttsruri”.
Proximate Expression
churlish
dour
glum

sulky
