Dogmatic Opinion
The slang term “Debu” is used both subjectively and objectively.
Even at 170 cm and 45 kg, there can be a pathological self-perception of “I’m Debu(fat)”.
On the other hand, “Deppuri” is objective and other-oriented.
He is so fat that he seems incapable of running.
The expressions “dignified” and “well-dressed” seem to be a token expression that paraphrases “Debu(fat)”.
It is interesting to note that sumo wrestlers are not necessarily “Deppuri”.
As a Japanese, I feel that English F has many negative words.
The D sound in Japanese may be similar.
Proximate Expression
fat
flabby
