CHOPPI-RI ちょっぴり
Meanings
An extremely small quantity or degree.
Examples
・I ate a tiny bit of caviar that was in the fridge without telling my husband.
冷蔵庫にあったキャビアを夫に内緒でちょっぴり食べた。
・A wee bit of this habanero chili sauce is deathly hot.
このハバネロソースは、ちょっぴり入れただけで、死ぬほど辛い。
Dogmatic Opinion
Colloquial, infantile expression of “Sukoshi”, “Chotto”.
However, there is a small amount that cannot be expressed by “Sukoshi” or “Chotto”.
I see a desire to convey as little as “a drop of dropper.”
If someone asks for “Sukoshi” of the steak you are eating, at worst, you may lose 25% of it.
“Chotto please”, you may lose about 10%.
“Choppiri please”, you may lose about 1〜9%, so much so that there is no subjective sense of being “taken”.
Proximate Expression
A tiny bit
